Who We Are
Fierce Martial Arts was founded in Ottawa, Canada by Sonia Carrière, who was and is a student of Sifu John Hum of Wutan Cananda.
Sonia began training with Wutan Canada in 2006 while a student at Carleton University. She stumbled into martial arts quite by accident, but loved it so much she has been training since. In 2013, she began to teach classes at Carleton where her classes are currently offered, focussing specifically on introducing women to martial arts. Teaching her women's only classes remains a highlight for Sonia, and she remains passionate about both training and teaching. She'll be the first to tell you that it was through martial arts that she was about to find herself and discover just how strong she - and by extension, women - are.
You need not be the strongest person in the room to win the fight. You only need to be strong enough - and women are.
Sonia has a lot of fun training, and endeavours to infuse her classes with that sense of fun; if you're looking for an extremely serious class with strict hierarchy, this is not the school for you.
